Dieting on the Go
MH, Lil O, and I went to see my family. They live 10 hours from us and we drove to see them. We left Saturday and we came back on Tuesday. I think that the hardest part about traveling is the temptation. Usually when we go on a road trip the food stops are one of the things I look forward to the most. So I must admit that it was a little hard. The first place we stopped was Popeye’s and I really wanted a two piece with red beans and rice and a biscuit with honey. However instead I got this new meal they have called the naked chicken meal. Just to let you know I did not enjoy it. They were strips with no breading and they were too spicy. The meal came with green beans and a biscuit. The biscuit was good but the green beans were horrible. However I was pleased to see that more fast food restaurants are trying to have options on their menu for those of us who are trying to eat better. The next stop was Taco Bell and their drive thru diet has a lot of different choices and I enjoyed the taco I got from there. The other hard part about traveling while you are on a diet is finding the time to work out. If you happen to be staying at a hotel it may be a bit easier because most hotels have a workout room. So all you have to do is get up and go. However for those of you who are like me and stay with family on occasion when you travel it can be a little bit harder. I did well in the beginning, on Sunday I went for a 3 mile walk as you can see from my previous post. On Monday I did Zumba on the Wii with my mom and I loved it. I have to get it because it is so fun and any of you that have a Wii should run out and get it. But on Tuesday the day we left I didn’t work out because we were trying to pack up the car and get going on this long 10 hour drive. This made it easier on Wednesday for me not to work out. So today working out was a must, half the battle of working out is making it a part of your daily routine. I think that if you do it every day your body starts to crave the endorphins released when you work out, it’s becomes a kind of addiction. So today I need to get a hit so that I will want one tomorrow.
