Resistance is Futile

Well not in this case. When I went to visit my mom she let me use her Jillian Michaels resistance bands. I really liked using them so she let me have them. I know to most that would seem very nice which it was. It was not however an inconvenience for her because I think she may have used them once since she got them. My mom has numerous workout gadgets that she buys and uses once and then never again. Not really beneficial to her but great for me because next time I go visit I have my eyes on her Zumba. Anyway MH and I have been really putting them to good use. The only problem is that the long band that is used to do various workouts is too long for me. For those of you who don’t know me I am about 5’1 and by about I mean 5 foot flat but I tell everyone I am 5’1. Anyway I don’t think that these bands were made for people with my particular height restrictions. The reason I say this is because when I do the series of rowing exercises in which the directions tell me to use the long tube there is still slack in the band. However if you know me you know that I am resourceful so I decided to change the length of the tube. Well first I tried the long tube with more resistance thinking it may work still I encountered the same problem. Then I tried the medium tube and the low resistance short tubes, they too did not work. So I tried the smallest tube they have that is used for upper body work and that is the one that worked for me. Is it just me or is this a problem, they should defiantly make resistance bands for people not as tall as average. Anyway I used the Looped Tube which is a resistance circular tube during my walk the other day. I stepped in the tube and put it around my ankles so that when I take a step the band provides resistance. I walked one mile with it around my ankles and then I walked a mile while doing an upper body exercise called bow and arrow which is done exactly how it sounds. Then I struggled through running the longest mile of my life and I put the looped tube around my neck so I wouldn’t have to carry it. Half way through that last mile I wanted to take that looped tube and pull it tight because my legs hurt so badly. Nevertheless I had a great work out that day and I can already see the difference.
